We will launch our website on Tuesday, January 24.
The website has been designed and created by Rachel Kane of the Baltinglass-based Rachel Kane Design. Rachel has worked with the WWHS website sub-committee over the past several months. This development is a great step forward for the society, as its only online presence to date has been its Facebook page.
The society aims to promote public interest in the history, folklore, genealogy, traditions and archaeology of West Wicklow and its environs, and to encourage the preservation of its archaeological, historical and architectural heritage.
The WWHS’s primary area of interest is the four western baronies of County Wicklow. This area stretches from the Dublin border in the north to the Wexford border in the south, bounded also by Kildare and Carlow.
The website launch takes place at Baltinglass Library from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., with a demonstration of the site’s various elements. All are welcome.
The event presents a good opportunity to join or renew membership of the society. The annual fee is €20 for an individual; €30 for a family or those living in the same household and €10 for students. Of course, when the website becomes live, it will be possible to conveniently join or renew WWHS membership online.
