We mourn the death of one of our long term members and former Chairman, Noel Lyons. We were founded in 1980 and Noel was one of the three people on the steering committee which drafted our constitution. Subsequently he served as our first Vice-Chairman, for 1980. His parents too were founder members of the WWHS. Noel and his wife Kate were regular participants in our activities through the years, and their daughter Emma has lectured to the society on a number of occasions. Noel again served as Vice-Chairman from 2006 to 2010, as well as being ‘acting’ Treasurer for 2007-2010. He became Chairman in 2011 and served in that capacity for six years. In all his roles he was diligent and he represented us with dignity. It’s also important to remember that Noel was great fun, with a wonderful sense of humour and great ability as a raconteur. He is sadly missed.

We extend our sympathy to Kate, to his children Emma and Mark, his sister Madeleine and his brother-in-law and friend Felix.
