We are very pleased to have announce that local West Wicklow historian and author Aidan Cruise was presented with honorary membership of our society by chairperson Paul Gorry at our recent lecture event on Tuesday 12 March 2024. Aidan, who hails from Manor Kilbride, has a wealth of historical knowledge particularly in relation to the Dublin and Blessington Steam Tram, which was the subject of his 2009 book. Aidan will shortly be publishing another book which will catalogue the many images relating to this tram line which he has collected over the years. WWHS honorary membership is awarded to members in recognition of outstanding contribution to local history and/or to the society over many years. Aidan joins Peadar Cullen, Phyllis Flanagan and P.J. Hanlon who also hold this special status.
