It was with great sadness that we learned of the death on 26 September 2024 of the much-loved and admired Phyllis Flanagan, a founding and indeed the most senior member of our society. She was also a long-standing committee member and treasurer of WWHS on a number of occasions since 1980. We were delighted to present Phyllis with honorary membership in January 2023. She attended the society’s events right up to the end of August.
Phyllis was a very-well-known Baltinglass native and resident. Although in her 96th year, she possessed an inexhaustible enthusiasm for living and served as an inspiration to all when it came to self-sufficiency and independence. The members and committee of WWHS have lost a valued member and friend.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Phyllis’s family, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace.
